Clayton Carlyle Allen, age 89, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Loveland, Colorado, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in Mesa. Clayton was born August 1, 1913, in California, Missouri, the son of Otto Lee and Lucy Senior Allen. He married Doris Fern Pemberton on April 25, 1938 in Olathe, Kansas. She preceded him in death in December of 1988. Clayton was raised in Odessa, Missouri, and graduated from Odessa High School. He graduated from Central Missouri State Teachers' College in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was a former resident of Independence, Odessa and Springfield, Missouri; Alexandria, Virginia; and Bellevista and Bentonville, Arkansas. He moved to Loveland in 1980, and had been a Mesa resident for the past 12 years. Clayton worked for Adjutant General for the U. S. Army. He was the Chief of Office of the Management Branch for 30 years, retiring in 1972. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Orchards Baptist Church in Loveland. Clayton is survived by one son, Dennis Lynn Allen and his wife Laura of Gilbert, AZ; one sister, Madeline Graf of Allens Park, Co; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, James Clayton Allen; 5 sisters; 3 brothers; and 1 grandchild, Eric Allen. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Allnutt Funeral Service/Hunter Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Sunday at Hunter Chapel. Interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Fort Collins, Colorado. Memorial contributions may be made to Orchards Baptist Church or the American Heart Association in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 2100 N. Lincoln Avenue, Loveland, CO 80538.
