BARTON, BART Born January 15, 1925 in Union City, PA and died March 23, 2006. He is survived by his wife Pat McKool Barton, brother John Barton and wife Peggy of Union City, PA, sister Ida Osiek of Barberton, OH, sisters-in-law Evelyn McKool and Betty McKool, both of Dallas and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to Eva Hampton and Jeannette Lynch. Bart, often referred to as "The General", was a highly regarded and well known record producer, songwriter and vocal-development teacher. A charter member and one of the founders of the Texas Music Association, he served for many years as Dallas Chapter Treasurer and member of the Board for both the Dallas Chapter and the State organization. He served two years as Board member and two years as Vice president of the Gospel Music Association (GMA), as well as four years on the Board of the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA). Bart was a member of the Country Music Association (CMA), the Academy of Country Music (ACM), the National Association of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), and the Canadian Association of Recording Arts & Sciences (CARAS). He was featured in Kingsbury's Who's Who in Country Music, and in the International Who's Who in Music - Volume Two - Popular Music. He was active in the music publishing scene on Nashville's Music Row for over five years and was President of the Nashville Publisher Network (NPN). Funeral Mass 2pm, March 25, 2006, at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 12525 Inwood Rd, Dallas, TX.
