Mr. Fountain was a native of Twiggs County but had lived in Milledgeville most of his adult life. Before his retirement, he was owner and operator of Fountain's Motel. He was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Jewell Turner Fountain of Milledgeville; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Goldsmith of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Patricia Killen of Germany; two sons, Jimmy E. Fountain and Billy Fountain, both of Milledgeville; a sister, Mrs. Sybil Fountain Koon of Newberry, S.C., two brothers, Walter H. Fountain Sr of Gordon and Henry Oscar Fountain of Miami, Fla.
Burial will be in West View Cemetery.
