Funeral services for Gradus Van Veldhuizen, 68, were held Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1984, at 1:30 p.m. in the First Reformed Church, Sanborn. The Rev. Gerald Osland officiated with burial in the Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn.

Mr. Van Veldhuizen passed away Sept. 2 at the Sheldon Community Memorial Hospital. The Sanborn Funeral Home Service was in charge of the arrangements.

The son of Jon and Evertje (VanDer Wilt) [sic] Van Veldhuizen, he was born April 25, 1916, in Sioux County. He attended schools in Sioux and Lyon counties.

He married Elberta D. Aalbers Feb. 19, 1941, at Orange City. After their marriage they resided in Sioux Falls, SD, and Alton and came to make their home in Sanborn in 1948.

He was employed at the Sanborn Creamery until his retirement. He was a member of the Earl T. Conway Post No. 318 American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Sanborn; four sons, John, Sioux City; Harold, Sheldon; and Larry and Dennis, Sanborn; two daughters, Mrs. Rod (Gladys) Kroeze, Sheldon; and Bonnie Van Veldhuizen, Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; and three brothers, James, Hull; Henry, Sioux Center; and Henry John, Sanborn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.
