Deceased Name: David Shreeve
David R. Shreeve, 84, 735 West 100 North, Portland, died Wednesday in AmeriCare Nursing Home in Portland.
Born in Jay County on March 13, 1921, to Charles and Mabel (Schmidt) Shreeve, he married Kathryn Bubp on Dec. 13, 1941. She survives.
He was a longtime owner and operator of Portland Municipal Airport and was an avid pilot and farmer.
Serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a member of Jay Lodge No. 87 F. & A.M. and American Legion and V.F.W.
Other survivors include a son, Chuck Shreeve, Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Diana) Michael, Woodstock, Ga.; two brothers, Virgil Shreeve, Portland, and Glenn Shreeve, Redkey; a sister, Mrs. Ron (Mary Ellen) Bickel, Portland; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday at 2 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Herbert Hummel officiating. Burial will be in the Salamonia Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post No. 211.
Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the Hopewell Church.
