MARTIN - James Edward Calvert, 72, retired from Memphis Light, Gas & Water Division and from the Army National Guard, died of heart failure Tuesday at Methodist Healthcare-Volunteer. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Martin First United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with burial in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden has charge. He was an Army Air Corps veteran, a Mason at Dresden Lodge 96 and a member of the Martin Kiwanis Club. Mr. Calvert, the husband of Mary Modean Myrick Calvert and widower of Margaret Hodges Calvert, also leaves two sons, James Craig Calvert of Martin and Thomas Stephen Calvert of Memphis; a step daughter, Gloria Adams of Martin; a stepson, John Scott Lykins of Germantown, two grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren.
