obituary in the DEMOCRATIC WATCHMAN of 27 Oct 1916 reads:
"Darius Garfield Blair of Tyrone, died at the Altoona Hospital at ten o'clock on Monday evening following an operation for intestinal
trouble. He was a son of William and Sarah Blair and was born in Patton township, this county, 36 years ago. Most of his life was spent in Centre County, but three years ago he moved to tyrone and since then had been employed at the paper mill in that place. Seventeen years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Annie Gates, of Loveville, who survives with the following children: Florence, LeRoy, Clair and Muriel, all at home. He also leaves his aged mother and the following brothers and sisters: Jacob and Lemuel of Patton; James and John of Tyrone; Charles of Warriors Mark, George and Miss Nancy Blair of Scotia and Mrs. George Shope of Altoona. Funeral services were held in the First English Lutheran Church at two o'clock yesterday afternoon by Rev. J. P. Miller, after which burial was made in the Grandview Cemetery, Tyrone."
