Aileene Coggins Black, 101, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, August 18, 2016, at her home.

Born January 30, 1915, in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ellis Herman Coggins and Callie Jane Easler Coggins and widow of G. S. Black.

Mrs. Black was a life-long member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and retired personnel director at Raycord. She was a bright star and encourager to everyone she met.

Survivors include her sister, Agnes Coggins Masters of Greenville, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Ada Coggins Black.

The family extended thanks to Karen Schafer, Connie Van Wyk, Joyce McDaniel, Edith Whitmire, Sandi Coggins, and Ruth Garren for the care and compassion shown to Aileene.

Visitation was 1:00-1:45 PM Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307.

Funeral services followed at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Keith Davis. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2817 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
