Tommie married Leola Irene Fisher on November 16, 1938 in DeLeon, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 514th Field Artillery Battalion. Mr. Roe worked for Schlumberger in Wichita Falls and Eastland before beginning a career with the U.S. Postal service in Abilene, Texas, later transferring to Austin in 1965 where he worked until his retirement in 1976. After his retirement, Tommie worked part time at Texas Commerce Bank.
He was a member of Allandale/Great Hills Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon for over 40 years, and was also a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Tommie was dearly loved and will be missed by his family, a host of friends and caregivers. We would like to especially thank the staffs of Waterloo Dialysis and Retirement and Nursing Center.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; son, Benny L. Roe and wife Linda of Cypress, Texas; daughter, Clarecia Jackson and husband Donald E. of Amarillo, Texas; brother, Walter Roe of Arkansas; granddaughters, Lezlie Roe of Cypress, Texas and Sheri Wickman and husband Brad of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandsons, Tommy Roe of Cypress, Texas and Mike Jackson of Amarillo, Texas; and by three great-grandsons, Colin, Cole and Corbin Wickman.
Visitation was Wednesday, March 22nd at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
Funeral services were on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Great Hills Baptist Church, 10500 Jollyville Road, with Reverend Michael Lewis officiating. Burial followed at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
