Mr. Haddock, a native of Pitt County, was a lifelong resident of the Clayroot community. He was a 1955 graduate of Chicod School. He served in the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of Haddock Logging, Inc. and farmed for a number of years, retiring in 2009.

Mr. Haddock was a member of Timothy Christian Church. He had a special love for barbequeing pigs for his family and classmates. One of his favorite past times was being at the river with his K-9 companion, Bandit, setting nets.

He was survived at the time of his death by his wife of 53 years, two sons, grandchildren, sisters, and other family and friends.
