Sara Hall was born to Ella Priscilla Childs and Bartow Hall. Her father died before her 5th birthday. She had two younger sisters, Annie and Naomi. Sara attended the Massey Business College in Columbus, Georgia. As Mr. Massey's star student, she went with him to start the college in Birmingham. There she met and married James Augustus Allen. They had 4 sons, Hall, James, Robert, and Morris, and 2 daughters, Atholine and Gladys. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
