Services for Ronald J. Banfield, 61, of Moline, are 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Moline. Visitation is two hours before the services, and the family will also greet friends at a reception following the services.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Moline, or Ronald McDonald House, 730 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City, Iowa 52246. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Banfield died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, shortly after arrival at Trinity Medical Center, East Campus, Moline, after suffering an apparent heart attack.

He was born Feb. 14, 1936, in Bronx, New York, the son of Orville and Alice Garbaccio Banfield. He married Melanie Jamieson (1940-2023) on Dec. 1, 1962, in Moline.

He was department manager in the video section of Best Buy, Moline, for the past 10 years. He previously was foreman at International Harvester East Moline Works.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Moline, and the Quad City Antique Ford Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his friends, and his hobbies of boating and antique cars.

He was survived by his wife, Melanie; a daughter and son-in-law and a son and daughter-in-law; three grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, and a brother and sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
