Margaret B. (Peggy) Whittaker was born in Walsenburg, CO on July 3, 1931 to parents Wm. Elmer and Mildred Haddan. The family added two sisters: Barbara (Bobby) and Wilma (Billy) and moved to Rocky Ford, CO in 1936. She and her sisters were known as the "Haddan" girls and had many childhood adventures together. Peggy graduated from RFHS in 1949. She attended college in Canyon, TX, returning to marry John Robert Whitakker on July 23, 1951 in Rocky Ford, CO. The first two years of marriage were spent in San Jose, CA where their daughter Linda Sue was born. When Bob completed military service and graduated from San Jose State College they returned to Rocky Ford, Co where children Rebecca Ann and John Robert Jr. were born. The Whittakers farmed in Rocky Ford, CO for 13 years, moved to Kansas City, MO in 1968, to Denver, CO in 1970, and to Moberly, MO in 1985. Following her husband's death, Peggy returned to Denver, CO where she lived until her death.

Peggy loved family life. She also enjoyed many activities: sewing, crafts, needlework and especially traveling. She visited all 50 states and many other countries. She especially loved the cruises she took with her sister Bobby.

Mrs. Whittaker died October 15, 2014 in Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Bob, her son Johnny, her sister Bobby, her grandson John Jacob Hoover, and her great granddaughter Gemma Christine Hoover.

Her family left to remember her are daughters Linda (Frank) Hoover, and Rebecca Whittaker; her grandsons Merritt Hoover, Ian Hoover, and David Alex Miller; her ssister Billy (Walt) Kuhn; her brother-in-law Wayne (Mary Alice) Whittaker; her isister-in-law Lois (John) Schweigert, 1 niece and 5 nephews.
