The Clinton Democrat of Thursday 15 August 1889 reported:
“The late Mrs. Elizabeth Shaffer, who died on Sunday at her son’s residence at Antes Fort, Jersey Shore Station, was 81 years, 11 months and two days old, and was the only sister of Joseph B. and Jacob Deise. She was buried in the Union grave at upper Wayne yesterday at 4 o’clock p.m.”
