Body of Aurora Soldier Buried With Military Honors
Aurora, Neb., May 30 - Private Harold Allen Dance, Company A, 239th Machine Gun Batalion, [sic] 88th Division, was the third dead soldier to be returned to this county from France. The remains of Private Dance were buried in Aurora cemetery, full military honors being accorded him. Uniformed members of the American Legion acted as pallbearers, and an armed squad fired the final volleys over the grave while taps were sounded. Dance was born north of Aurora on July 23, 1895. His parents both preceded him in death. He died in a French hospital on October 19, 1918, having sailed for France on August 7, 1918, after training at Camp Dodge for several months. He left, surviving him, a brother, Verne Dance, residing north of Aurora, and a number of brothers and sisters residing here and in Iowa and Illinois.
