Billie Evelyn (Gooing) Hunt, beloved wife, mother and daughter of God, returned to her heavenly abode on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Billie was born April 10, 1926 in Quinton, Oklahoma to Jedediah and Vivian Gooing. After living in several states her family settled in Idaho when Billie was 13. She graduated from Parma High School as Salutatorian of her class in 1944.

Following graduation, Billie moved to Seattle, Washington and worked in the shipyards. In 1946 Billie moved back to Idaho to attend the University of Idaho in Moscow. There she met her soul mate and eternal companion, William Donald Hunt. They were married on June 27, 1948 in Parma and later solemnized the marriage in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Billie's first child, Larry Alan, was born in Moscow in 1950; just two days after Billie played nine holes of golf. Her three other children; David born in 1951, Jennifer - 1954 and Tony - 1956 were born in Twin Falls. In 1957 the family moved to Baker City, Oregon where Billie lived for nearly 40 years. She was active in the community and the LDS Church and was employed by the school district, U.S. Census Bureau, and the Baker Flower Shop. Billie returned to school in 1964 and earned her BA degree at Eastern Oregon State College. Following graduation she began a long teaching career at Haines Elementary School.

The family spent some of their most cherished times at Redfish Lake in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. For ten summers Billie and Don managed the campgrounds at Redfish. It was hard work, but Billie found time to enjoy the majestic setting and developed a love for water skiing, which continued into her mid-fifties.

Billie loved to serve and had a positive impact on everyone she associated with. Her LDS Church callings included Gospel Doctrine teacher, temple missionary, and Relief Society leadership. She loved to sing and play the guitar and mandolin. She was an accomplished artist, specializing in water colors. Later in life, Billie and Don traveled throughout the U.S. and enjoyed trips to Europe and Mexico. Above all, Billie loved being with her family and friends. She was always an eager and active participant in family games, songfests and sporting activities.

Billie and Don moved to Orem, Utah in 1995 to be near her burgeoning family. She made wonderful friendships in Orem, bled Cougar Blue, was passionate about the Utah Jazz and enjoyed participating in a fantasy basketball league. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don in 2002, brothers Roy, Glen, James and Jack and sisters Nadine and Roberta (Bobbie). Billie is survived by her sister Beverly Hansen (Notus, Idaho), her four children, 25 grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held Sunday, January 22nd at Sundberg Olpin Mortuary in Orem from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23rd at the Orem Park 4th Ward chapel - 50 South 750 West. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.SundbergOlpinMortuary.com.
