Esther Muriel Bell was born the daughter of George and Elsie (Brewster) Crofts on Sunday, August 13, 1939 in Ontario, California.

Esther graduated from Chaffey High School in 1957 in Ontario, California. She married Wayne Bell on October 18, 1958. Wayne and Esther lived in California from 1958 until 1967, when they moved to Oregon and settled in Newberg to raise their family. Esther was an avid bowler in Newberg and McMinnville leagues for many years. She enjoyed volunteering her time at the Newberg Providence Medical Center, at the Yamhill County Elections, and as a Deacon at Newberg First Presbyterian Church. Esther loved playing cards with her neighbors, growing fruits and vegetables, and helping her family grow and thrive. She was an incredible supporter of her sons’ and grandchildren’s school and sporting events. Her joy was truly her family.

On Saturday, March 8, 2014, Esther Muriel Bell died at her residence surrounded by her family at the age of seventy-four.

Surviving and left to honor her life are: two sons, Michael of Wilsonville and Ronald of Newberg; two sisters, Carol Sturdevant and Doris Neville; five grandchildren and those who have come to know and appreciate her where she has lived and worked. Her parents George and Elsie, three brothers, George, Morgan and Keith Crofts; and her husband Wayne Bell preceded her in death.
Her Memorial Service will be Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Newberg with Pastor Peter Blank officiating. Private Committal will be at Valley View Memorial park, Newberg. Arrangements are in the care of Attrell’s Newberg Funeral Chapel, a Golden Rule Funeral Home.
