He was born and raised principally on Gillmore and Lacy Creek.Struck by LightningWhile digging the grave for uncle Phil Little on Gillmore Monday afternoon, George Little, Robert Little, Thos. Little, and a colored man named Campbell Raisor were struck by lightning and knocked insensible. Robertt Little and Raisor were in the grave and the other two standing on the brink, yet all were struck in the same place on the neck. The fluid burned the hair from Prater's neck and breast as if singed by a candle, and the hair was burned from Robert Little's neck in the same way. Under the treatment of Dr. John Taulbee, who was called at once, all have about recovered except Prater, who is still suffering the most excruciating pains and complaining of misery in the breast.
