Curtis F. Askins, 99, of King City, Mo. died on Sept. 13, 2006, at a nursing home in King City.
He was born Aug. 19, 1907, in Gentry County, Mo., the son of Thomas and Rosa (Barker) Askins, who resided in DeKalb County, Mo. Curtis was graduated from King City High School, where he played football and worked with his father and uncle as a carpenter.
Curtis was a member and deacon of the Presbyterian Church, King City. He also was on the Volunteer Fire Department and served on the City Council.
He was a conservationist, hunter, trapper, fisherman and carpenter; and always had an interest in the school and town.
He married Mary Loretta Patton in January, 1934. They moved to a farm north of King City in 1949. Curtis was a grain farmer and raised livestock. Loretta was a schoolteacher for 41 years. She died in 1977.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, James W. Askins.
Survivings are son, Gary Patton Askins, Camas Valley, Ore.; four grandchildren, Kenton, Karmen, Kyle, and Kris; and ninegreat-grandchildren.
Memorial Services were held on Sept. 16, at Gibson Funeral Home, King City, Mo.
Mr. Askins was cremated under the direction of Gibson Funeral Home, King City, Mo.
Inurnment: King City Cemetery, King City, Mo.
