Shirley J. Denetz, age 87, 4 S. 7th St., #18, Tomahawk, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital in Weston.

Shirley was born April 22, 1925 in Olive Branch, Illinois, the daughter of Matthew and Dona (Provo) Webster. She married John 'Derry' Denetz on April 30, 1946 in Cairo, Illinois; he passed away November 28, 1990. Shirley was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for many years, retiring as Postmaster of the Irma branch in 1988. Shirley lived in the Whittier Apartments for 25 years, where she loved and helped her neighbors. She enjoyed knitting and gardening - growing flowers and tomatoes. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk, where she was a very active volunteer in her younger years.

Survivors include:

Daughter, Betty Harkness, Tomahawk

Special niece , Jennifer DeNetz, Waupaca

Shirley is further survived by grandsons - Joshua (Pam) Denetz and Jeremy (Jessica) Denetz. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son - Alan, 6 sisters, and 5 brothers.

A Memorial Service for Shirley Denetz will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Ziemer will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery in Irma.
