Imogene "Jean" Jenkins Royer, 76, of Clay City, passed away at 10:33 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005 at her home.
Born Nov. 18, 1928 in Worthington, she was the daughter of Manuel and Goldie (Miller) Jenkins. On Jan. 19, 1947, she married Richard L. Royer.
She graduated from Coalmont High School in 1947. She attended Faith Southern Baptist Church. She enjoyed baking and tending to her flowers.
Survivors include: her husband Richard L. Royer of Clay City; two sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Beverly I. Royer of Sullivan, and Michael D. and Amy Royer of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Eva Fulk of Indianapolis, and Dorothy Grady and her husband Jim of Jasonville; four grandchildren, Jennifer L. Kearns and her husband Brendan of Clay City, Michael A. Royer and his wife Mary Jo of Sullivan, and Jack Royer and Will Royer, both of Birmingham, Ala.; two great-grandchildren, Emma J. Royer and Evan J. Royer, both of Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Danny Jenkins, Eddie Jenkins, and Ralph Jenkins; and two sisters, Nellie Thornton and Bernice Bradbury.
Funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 Eighth St., Clay City, with Pastor Ray Deeter officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
