Born April 29, 1921 on the Ashepoo Plantation in Green Pond, he was the last surviving son of the late Willie Henry Carter and the late Zula Frank Carter. He was preceded in death by brothers Willis, Harry, Coy and Jimmy.
He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant where he saw action in Central Europe. Mr. Carter was a member and former elder of First Christian Church of Walterboro.
Surviving are: his only child, Wendy Carter and wife Amy of Warwick, Georgia; and grandson Wen Carter, III of Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services with military honors were conducted, October 6, 2014, from the graveside in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Walterboro.
