Aunt Betsy was the rock of our family. She was always there for us and she always told us the truth, even if it hurt sometimes. She was proud to have been raised by her mother, Aunt Katherine and Mama Bessie. She carried their lessons with her and passed on to those of us willing to listen, the work ethic and strength her "three Moms" gave to her. Although she was the youngest of the children her siblings looked to her in times of stress as her calm voice could always settle any situation. I miss her dearly as I know many of us "kids" do...

Aunt Betsy worked as a nurse at UT Medical Center on the oncology floor for many years. Many who worked with her knew her as Judy. Born with a caul, she fulfilled the "old wives tale" of having heightened senses. She was able to give comfort to the dying in ways most could not which made her a "natural" in her field. She cared for her cousin Johnny for many years making daily trips to the house she grew up in to take him his biscuit and "senior coffee" from Bojangles.
