Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 18, for Arthur G. Applegate, at Schellhammer Funeral Home, in Gilmore City, with the Rev. John W. Irwin officiating. Burial was in the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe. Mr. Applegate passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 1985, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital, reaching the age of 82 years.

Born Arthur George Applegate on October 22, 1902, at Rolfe, the son of Aury and Anna (Behrendsen) Applegate. He was raised in Rolfe, graduating from Rolfe High School then farmed near Rolfe. In 1944 due to health reasons he moved to Glendale, Arizona and worked on the Santa Fe Railroad, later transferring to Bartson, Calif. where he worked until retiring and moving back to the Pocahontas Manor Nursing Home in 1979.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ann Applegate, of Rolfe; nephew, Harvey Applegate, of Phoenix, Az.; and niece, Mrs. Kenneth (Charolette) Christians, of Lakefield, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lester Applegate, and one nephew, Eugene Applegate.
