M. M. Lindley Succumbs to Paralytic Stroke

M. M. Lindley, one of the early residents of McAlester and one of the founders of the McAlester bar association, died at his home, 525 East Grand Avenue, last Sunday night, following a stroke of Paralysis. Mr. Lintley had been ill since about four weeks ago, and the stroke found him too weak to rally from its effects. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery here, Tuesday afternoon Rev. Mark Sexton conducting the funeral services. Mr. Lindley came to McAlester from Lebanon, Ill., in the early days of the federal court here, and had made this the family home since 1890. He was for several years a member of the legal firm of Harley & Lindley, and took an active part in the formation of the Pittsburg County Bar Assiciation. During the latter part of his life, however, he had retired from the general practice of law and was engaged in the oil business, with headquarters in Little Rock, where he was associated with Charles E. Taylor, former mayor of Little Rock, and others. He is survived by his wife and three children, Miss Mary Lindley of this city, Charles Lindley of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and John Lindley, of Tulsa. All surviving members of the family were at his bedside during his final hours. He was 65 years of age at the time of his death.
