Mrs. Matie Leatherwood Vinson was born Aug. 21, 1850, in Iuka, Miss.
Was married to Rev. J.E. Vinson, September 3, 1867, in Iuka, Miss.
She died August 13, 1928, after an illness of sixteen years. The
writer assisted by Rev. Frank Richardson held her funeral and she was
buried by the side of her husband and two small daughters in Honey
Grove. Sister Vinson was a Christian from early girlhood and very
efficient and active in church work.

As a Methodist minister's wife she was modest, capable and
universally loved wherever she lived.

Her sweet Christian life influenced many to lead a nobler life.
Ministry to others was her greatest pleasure and no service too
humble for her to perform in the name of her Lord. After the death
of her husband, a year and a half ago, she was tenderly cared for by
her three surviving brothers.

The aroma of such a life will never fade. Heaven is richer now she
is there, where there is no sorrow or suffering.
