LEESVILLE — Services for Laura Jordan Whittle, 92, will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Friday at Leesville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sandra King officiating. Burial will follow in Batesburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel. Memorials may be made to Leesville UMC 510 East Columbia Avenue Leesville, SC 29070.
Mrs. Whittle passed away Tuesday October 7, 2014. Born in Ridge Spring, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary Fulmer Jordan. She was a member of Leesville UMC, the Vera Goldman Circle, the B-L Eastern Star and was a former member of the B-L Women’s Club. Laura was part owner of Whittle’s Nursery with her late husband and worked as a bookkeeper her whole life. She retired from Rawls Auto Auction after working with the late Martin Rawls and S.L. Montgomery for 27 years. Laura was known by many as "The lady that kept the sale running on auction day." She continued to keep books for several small businesses until her health failed.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Glenda Whittle of Leesville, grandchildren, James Scott Whittle (Becky), April Rene Whittle (Dave Patten), Taylor Whittle Floyd (Ryan), great-grands, Anna Elizabeth Whittle, Aiden James Floyd, Jordan Grace Whittle and Chandler Dunning.
She was predeceased by her husband, Laurice L. Whittle and a great-great-granddaughter, Bryn M. Floyd, sisters, Lottie Willings, Maggie Ergle, Ella Smith, Alma Easters, Pauline Campbell, Gertrude Davenport, stepsister, Ella Rankin, brothers, Olin, Thurmond, Ramon, and Ernest Jordan.
