Dear Grandmother, Viola, known as "Vi" by her family and friends cared for her parents until they died, so she married late. She married John Henderson Boardman March 29, 1911. They had three daughters who lived to have families of their own, Minnie "Marie", Velma "Louise", and Mildred Lucille. Plus a stillborn daughter, Ellen Catherine Boardman.

Viola's parents were Riley S. Allen and Catharine Stewart Allen.
