Margilu taught at Etna School for 3 years. Then she taught 2 years at New Hope School. After having her children, she became a full time mother and farm wife. For 18 years, she and Don owned the Cozad Daylight Donut Shop. Everyone has fond memories of her cakes, sausage rolls, cinnamon and caramel/pecan rolls, pretzels and of course donuts.
Margilu enjoyed baking for her family and friends, teaching Sunday school and Children’s Church and attending Bible Studies with her friends. She enjoyed many visits and holidays with her children and grandchildren, and daily prayed for them all.
She was a faithful and devoted member of the Cozad Bible Church, where she was a faithful prayer warrior for the Adventure Club Kids. She and Don were previously active members of the New Hope Evangelical Free Church, north of Gothenburg which always held special memories for her of serving Jesus along side friends and family.

Survivors include her children: Julie (Peterson) and Chuck Hagedorn of Manhattan, KS, Jeff and Paula Peterson of Seward, NE, Kurt and Chris Peterson of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Kalen and Cortney Peterson of Seattle, WA, Keith and Mallory Peterson of Lincoln, NE, Amanda Peterson of Woodbury, MN, Daniel and Bhavini Hagedorn of Hoxie, KS, Abby (Peterson) and Taylor Bove of Crystal, MN, Emily (Peterson) and Brandon Welch of Papillion, NE, Lexi Peterson and Fiance Jon Policky of Kearney, NE, Adam Hagedorn of Lincoln NE. Brother Ted Anderson of Lincoln Nebraska and Sister-in-law JoAnn (Peterson) and Boyd Phillippi of Cozad, NE and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held Monday, December 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cozad Bible Church with Pastor JC Calhoun officiating. Private family burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE. Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
