Wanda Helms Drake, 61, of Ansonville, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 7, 2014 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday morning, October 11, 2014 at Norwood First Baptist Church. Rev. Todd McSwain and Elder Charles Broadway will officiate and burial will follow in Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00, Friday night, October 10, 2014 at Edwards Funeral Home.
Wanda was born December 9, 1952 in Stanly County to the late Bobby Helms and Mary Jewel Huneycutt Helms Whitley.
She was a member of Norwood First Baptist Church and was a licensed plumber and along with her husband, owned S & D Plumbing. Wanda loved animals, all kinds of birds and hummingbirds. Wanda will be remembered for her warm personality and radiant smile.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Keith Helms.
She is survived by her loving husband of the home, Garry Lane Drake; daughter, Shannon Drake Miller and husband, Mark of Pageland, SC; step-daughter, Traci Harvell; brothers, Jerry Helms and wife Linda and Jimmy Helms and wife, Carolyn all of Stanfield; grandchildren, Kayla Patterson and husband, Chris and Makayla “Boo” Miller; her cat, Scooter and dogs, Blue and Pixie.
