E. C. Barber, 85 of Whitney, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. He was born on September 17, 1929 in Lancaster to Edward Cleveland and Martha Elizabeth (Bass) Barber.

On June 1, 1974, he married Ann Murphy and she preceded him in death on May 6, 1989.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He began work at Ford Motor Plant in Dallas and later worked for Safeway as a truck driver for approximately 30 years.

A driving instructor for MTS in Waxahachie, he also worked for Morgan Trucks in Corsicana before retiring in 2002. Before moving to Whitney, he lived in Navarro County from 1976 until 2002.

Enjoying the outdoors, he especially liked going to the lake and boating as well as taking long drives, watching western movies. He always enjoyed tinkering and working on a lawnmower or tractor.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son-in-law, Danny Higginbotham; three sisters and a brother.

Survivors include his children, LIVING; twelve grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, 2015. Burial will follow at Dresden Cemetery in Navarro County.
