TILLERY. Died 11-08-1953. John Tillery, 83, of Woodville township in Greene County, brother of Dayton and Arthur Tillery of Jerseyville, died August 11 at Boyd Memorial hospital in Carrollton. He had been in ill health for some time. A native of Greene County, Mr. Tillery had spent most of his life engaged in farming, blacksmithing and carpentering. His wife and 4 children preceded him in death. The deceased is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Lena Varble of Woodville; 1 son, Ivan Tillery of Arcadia, Kansas; 17grandchildren; 10 g-grandchildren; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services were held at the Mehl Funeral Home in Carrollton Friday, August 14, under the auspices of the Order of Odd Fellows. Interment was in Mt. Gilead cemetery.
