She was born on Nov. 12, 1917, in Fairchance, Pa., daughter of the late Jonathan Laughery and Lena Laughery Mains.
She was a member of the Luzerne Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and a former employee of Brownsville Dairy Queen.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael M. Matty; a son, Ronald Matty; brothers, Clarence and Jonathan Laughery; and sisters, Bertha Laughery, Gwen Rist and Nellie Nichols.
She is survived by two children, Terry Matty and wife, Christine of Penn Craft, Pa., and Kim Harvey and husband, Larry of Maxwell, Pa.; five grandchildren, Pam Cordy, Terri Lyn Anderson, Carissa Matty, Kelly Kremposky and Michael Harvey; nine great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kara, Cole, Mitchel, Gregory, Alexander, Allison, Lucas and Logan; a sister, Faye Biddle and husband, Willard of Maxwell, Pa.; and a daughter-in-law, Liz Matty of Ohio.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at noon, with the Rev. Rebecca Hickok officiating. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.
