Betty Ann (Peterson) Akenhead 89 of Rochester passed away Friday October 3, 2014 at Saint Marys Hospital.

Betty was born on March 27, 1925 in Rochester, Minnesota to Algerd "Mike" Peterson and Helen Leqve Peterson.

She married her high school sweetheart, Robert James Akenhead in Rochester on June 17, 1946 and then moved to Northern California. Bob and Betty were world travelers who always were ready for a new adventure and new Acquaintances. After Betty retired from teaching 21 years in the Diablo Valley School District in 1980 they relocated to their beloved Sun City, Arizona. After Bob's death in 2011, Betty returned to Rochester, Minnesota where she resided in Charter House.

Survivors include 2 children, 2 son-in-laws, one sister-in-law, 2 grandsons, one great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, sister Kathryn Ethel Peterson, brother Glen Curtis Peterson, and half-brother Merlin Leqve.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday October 7, 2014 at 1:30PM at Charter House in Rochester, Minnesota with Pastor Norm Wahl officiating. Visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service. Private interment for the family will be at Oakwood Cemetery Rochester, Minnesota at a later time.
