Norwood Willis Sanderlin, 72, passed away in Shreveport on September 15, 2017.  Norwood was born December 20. 1944 in Hodge, LA the first son to Willis Sanderlin and Era Caskey Sanderlin.  Norwood suffered mental retardation as a result of PKU.  Despite his MR his parents provided Norwood with total love and he brought inexpressible joy to his family.  Norwood lived at home until he was 22, then at Pinecrest State School in Pineville for 16 years and 32 years at Northwest Developmental Center in Bossier City until its closure in 2016.  He spent the last 10 months at Community Bridges LiLinda Home in Ruston, LA.  Norwood was a sweet guy and many people provided excellent care for him in his sojourn through this life; these special people will always be remembered by his family.  Norwood liked car rides, old country music -  Hank Sr, Jim Reeves and Christmas music (all year).  He loved Hershey's bars, Coke and peanut butter on crackers.  But most of all his Mother's cooking and trips home to be pampered and loved by his parents - especially Mom.

Norwood is predeceased by his parents, five uncles, two aunts.  He is survived by two brothers, Randy Sanderlin of Shreveport and Ted Sanderlin (wife Lynn) of Eros; one nephew, Kyle Sanderlin (wife Lindsay) of West Monroe; great nephew, Brycen; great niece, Madilyn; several cousins.

The family has always been deeply thankful for the good care provided to Norwood during his time at Northwest Developmental Center.  We are especially appreciative and thankful for Community Bridges in Ruston accepting Norwood when Northwest Developmental Center closed and for the care and kindness shown to him by the LiLinda Home family during his final brief illness.  Norwood will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered as our best brother.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 18, 2017 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Robert Leach officiating.
