ROBERT M. CUMMINGS, a resident of this city for 26 years and for the last nine years night station agent at the Park Hill Station of the Putnam Railroad, died Sept. 4, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Peter Billmeyer, in Milton, Pa., where he had been visiting for two weeks. Mr. Cummings, who was 65 years old, had suffered from locomotor ataxia for several years. While at Milton he was stricken with pleurisy, which hastened his death.
Mr. Cummings was a native of Montour County, Pa., and was a son of Alexander Cummings. Before becoming station agent here he was a conductor on the Putnam Road for 16 years.
He was a member of Nepperhan Lodge of Free Masons, Yonkers Lodge of Odd Fellows, and the Brotherhood of Railroad Conductors. He is survived by his wife and by two daughters, Miss Gleneida Cummings and Miss Florence Cummings. A brother, Joseph Cummings, lives in Sunbury, Pa.
Funeral services were held at the Billmeyer home in Milton, Monday—Rev. Mr. Hurlburt, of Montandon, officiating. Interment was made In the Billmeyer family cemetery.
