John Fletcher Cooper, 87, of Simpsonville, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Fritz Cooper and the late Emma Balcombe Cooper. He was the husband of the late Grace Brashier Cooper.

John was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Unity Baptist Church. He was retired from Simpsonville Lumber Company and served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by one daughter, Elaine DuVall of Simpsonville; one son, R. Gene Cooper and his fiancee Michelle Reeves of Greer; two sisters, Frances Lavendar of Greenwood, and Vivian Bingham of Greenville; four grandchildren, Charles DuVall Jr. of Fountain Inn, Johnna DuVall of Fountain Inn, Jason Cooper of Mauldin, Ashley Cooper Blakely of Mauldin; and three great-grandchildren, Jessica Forrester, Brent Cooper and Caroline Pressley.

In addition to his wife, John was predeceased by two sisters and six brothers.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. The service will be at Unity Baptist Church on Monday, November 17, 2008, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow the service in the Church Cemetery.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Flowers are to be omitted and memorials made to Unity Baptist Church Building Fund at 1000 Fairview Road, Simpsonville, SC. 29681
