Amanda Pinson, of south St. Louis County, was with the 101st Airborne Division and was based at Fort Campbell, Ky. She worked as a cryptologist in Iraq, making and breaking codes.

She was a graduate of Hancock High School and joined the Army in 2002, where she won several scholarships and was on the basketball and softball teams. She planned to attend college after her military service and become an FBI or CIA agent.
On Tuesday, May 31st she was honored by the National Security Agency, the first female soldier to be honored by the agency
