Mrs. Mary J. Vaughn, 89, formerly of Pulaski County, died February 28, at her home in Fowler, Indiana.
The daughter of the late Jesse and Polly Stevenson, Mrs. Vaughn was born in this county July 17, 1865. She married William J. Vaughn Aug. 20, 1885 in Fowler, Ind. and six children were born to this union. Mr. Vaughn preceded her in death in 1942.
Mrs. Vaughn united with the Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age and retained her membership there until her death.
Mrs. Vaughn is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Effie Nichols and Mrs. Anzie Girdler; four sons, William R. Vaughn, James M. Vaughn, Fayette Vaughn, and Frank Vaughn; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Duke Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. H.D. Smallwood and the Rev. Boyce Jones conducted the services. Burial was in the Somerset cemetery.
