Earlene was born Jan. 26, 1929, at Galena. Her parents were Earl and Cleo Myrtle (Summers) Kohl. She was a lifetime resident of Galena. She was a graduate of Galena High School. She had worked as a seamstress at King Louie Manufacturing for 15 years. She then worked at LaBarge Industries for a while before working several years with the SEK CAP Meals on Wheels program in Galena. She last worked in 1985.
She was a member of Empire Mission Church, Galena. She had also been a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion. She had been an adult leader in youth programs including summer baseball and the Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops in Galena. Her interests included crafts, yard work and caring for her pets.
Earlene was married to Lloyd Wayne Shuey on June 17, 1967, in Cave Springs, Mo. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Buster Gene Paradee (wife, Nancy), Carl Junction, Mo., and Kenneth Karl Lewis, Galena; three daughters, Chlea Suzie Baker (husband, Galan), Midwest City, Okla., Carolyn Dykens (husband, Dwight), Joplin, and Sandy Richardson, Amarillo, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two half sisters; one brother; and one grandson, K.C. Lewis.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Hill Crest Cemetery, Galena. Rev. Alvin H.G. Patterson will officiate. Visitation was held Thursday, March 16, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
