Together, Letitia and Charles had two children, Lola May McDole and Iona May McDole. On the 1900 Census, Letitia (then Rakes) reported having had 3 children with two living.
Letitia Dye McDole filed for divorce in Nov. 1869; it was granted January 3, 1870 in Venango County, PA.
Her daughter, Lola May McDole (later Donaldson) ended up in Michigan after 1880, living with and presumably caring for her Grandmother, Polly McDole, who had been blind for years, until Lola May married in 1882. Her daughter, Iona May McDole (later Hughes) stayed in Titusville, PA, raising a family.
Letitia married Frank Rakes in 1881 in Pennsylvania. According to family, she and Frank Rakes had a good and loving marriage. Because Frank Rakes was a well-known and highly regarded horse trainer and jockey, who died while driving "a high-spirited team", the vehicle overturning and killing him instantly, there were articles in various papers. However, I have been unable to determine where he is buried. Greenwood makes sense, but he was "colored" and may have been buried elsewhere, perhaps with family. If anyone knows, please do let me know! I would love to unite them here.
