Robert Lawrence Dalglish "Bob" loved his wife, his five children, twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Easter and every other holiday. Bob was the Christmas Elf. He loved tradition. He was a natural clown and a powerful orator. Bob, a former school teacher and administrator, enjoyed attending reunions with his Edison High School Students. His students share fond memories of one of their favorite teachers, and they invited Bob to join them each year for get-togethers that he never missed. Bob was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1928, the youngest of eight children. Bob loved to visit his hometown and regaled his children and grandchildren, who often accompanied him on annual trips, with stories of the people and places he remembered as he grew up. When Bob was seventeen, he left his many friends and family to become a soldier. Fortunately for the Army, Bob was both left handed and willing to play baseball during World War II. The Army sent Bob to San Antonio where another soldier introduced him to his future wife, Alicia. The couple called San Antonio home for sixty seven years living brief periods of time in Pittsburgh, Pa. and Mission, Tx. for college and teaching. Bob earned a B.A. and an M.A. from Trinity University and another M.A. from Pitt. He was awarded numerous honorary doctorate degrees. He taught History at Edison High School, became the Director of Vocational Education at Fox Tech and later moved on to become the Director of Adult and Continuing Education at San Antonio College. In that position, Bob took the Adult and Continuing Education from the smallest department at the college to the largest and expanded the program to encompass the entire Alamo Community College District. Bob taught Sunday School for sixty years and he was an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church. ' He was part of bringing Hemisphere to San Antonio working on the "Ask Me About San Antonio" project. Bob is survived by his wife, Alicia, his five children and their spouses, Jim (Carol), Karen Seal (Russell), Debbie Garcia (Ernesto), Jean Copeland (Jim), and Robert Jr. "Doug" (Sonja), his grandchildren, Jamie, Elizabeth, Kassandra (David), James (Katy), Melissa, Michael, Tristan, Zachary, Katie, Melanie, Victoria and Geoffrey, his great grandchildren, Porchia, William, Robert, Isabella and Lark.
