FRUIT HEIGHTS-Roy LaNell Hatch, 69, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 1992 at Humana Hospital in Layton of complications following an accidental fall from a ladder at his home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1923 in Panguitch, Utah, son of John Franklyn and Grace Schow Hatch. He married Phyllis Pauline Smith April 16, 1946 in Reno, Nevada; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away Dec. 26, 1983. He married Carla Ann McKinnon April 24, 1985 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was reared and educated in Panguitch, lived in Clearfield, Layton, Kaysville, and the Fruit Heights area the past 46 years. Roy met and served thousands of friends in Davis County through his business, Roys Auto Repair, which he founded in 1951 in Layton, Utah. So many choice people whom he met as customers and served as friends, made him a successful and well known business man.
He was an active member of the Fruit Heights 2nd Ward. Throughout his life he served as Scout Master, M-Mens basketball coach, Young Mens president, Sunday School teacher, and in the bishopric. He and his wife, Carla, served in the New York Rochester mission, 1987-89, and recently served as stake missionaries. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Patton's 3rd Army in Europe.
Survived by his wife, Fruit Heights; two daughters, four sons and spouses, Chyrl H. and R. L. King, Kaysvlle; Karen Ann and David Hill, Layton; R. Mark and Bette Ann Hatch; Kevin Roy and J'Lynn Hatch; Steven L. and Jill Hatch; Scott J. and Lisa Hatch, all of Layton; four stepchildren and spouses, Darrell and LeeAnn McKinnon, Kaysville; Vincent and Kathy McKinnon, Bountiful; Sheryl and Jon Collier, Sandy; Vicki and Peter Lindkquist, Salt Lake City; 38 grandchildren; also two brothers, one sister and spouses, A. Frank and Willie Hatch, St. George; Brent S. and Lucy Hatch, Park City; Reva and Veri Shamo, Cedar City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, and a sister, Nita B.Dickerson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13, 11 a.m., at the Fruitheights Stake Center, 170 North Mtn. Road. Friends may call at Lindquist Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, Friday, 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, at the stake center from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the VFW Honor Guard.
