Funeral services for Thomas Edward Durbin, 66, farmer of this community who died in his home in Butler Grove township, at 4 a.m. Friday from complications following a long illness, were conducted at the Saint Agnes Catholic church at 10 a.m. Sunday by Rev. Fr. John H. Heslin, pastor. Burial was in the St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery here.
Mr. Durbin was a son of Joseph H. and Nancy Simmons Durbin, and was born at Owaneco, Feb. 3, 1873. He was married twice. His first marriage was to Miss Adeline Durbin, who died many years ago. On Nov. 22, 1904, he was married to Miss Ida Durbin, at Virginia, a sister of his first wife, who survives him.
He also leaves the following children: Mrs. William Maroney, Hillsboro; Berthol Durbin, Raymond; Murel Durbin, Hillsboro; Howard, Anthony, Mary, Ester, Patrick and Lily Durbin at home; Mrs. Ilene, wife of Bernard Matli of Butler; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Durbin, Taylorville; Mrs. Anna Harvel, Taylorville; Mrs. Dallas Rappe, Taylor Springs; five brothers, Aaron Durbin, Pana; Hiram Durbin, Irving; Robert Durbin, Chicago; William Durbin, Warrensburg, Mo.; Horatio Durbin, Centralia, and nine grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic church, and the Modern Woodmen of America.
