Jess B. Spencer of Gatesville died Monday, April 15, in Clifton. He was 87.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Restland Cemetery with Rev. Lloyd Sansom officiating. Scott's Funeral Home was in charge.
Mr. Spencer was born August 8, 1903, in McGregor, the son of the late Claude and Florence Spencer.
He was reared and educated in McGregor, and married Gladys Spencer June 14,1924.
He worked as a carpenter at McGregor, Temple, Moody, Waco, Fort Hood and Gatesville. He and his wife made their home at Flat and Leon Junction before moving to Gatesville in 1972.
Mr. Spencer was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gatesville.
His wife preceded him in death in 1987.
Survivors include a son, James Spencer of Morgan; a sister, Johnnie Gibson of Waco; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
