Funeral service for Mrs. Merle Schubert, 90, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Gemeinhardt and Rev. Carl Kelly will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Schubert passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at her Residence. She was born on August 18, 1924 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Benjamin Curtis Brown and Lula Newman Brown.

She was a member of New Pine Grove Baptist Church for 42 years. She loved people especially children and was all about helping people. Mrs. Merle was an avid reader and enjoyed reading the Bible. She loved the Lord and was always telling others about Him. She was an excellent seamstress, gardener, and enjoyed word search puzzles. She was a master checker player. She loved her grandchildren dearly and taught them how to cook like she did.

She is survived by her daughters, Cinnamon Peoples of Alexander City, Janice Wooten of Gadsden, Ginger McKee (Mike), of Opelika; grandchildren, Summer Shea Peoples and Will McKee; sister, Jewel Fomby of Alexander City .

Pallbearers will be Sanders Fomby, Benjie Patterson, Frank Tapley, Nelson Tapley, Mike McKee, and Will McKee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clyde Schubert; her parents; sisters, Clara Tapley, Lorene Reeves, and Adelene Patterson.
