According to Levi's Discharge Certificate, he was enrolled in Company A., 56 Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers on March 15, 1865 for a term of one year and was discharged near Washington, D. C. on July 1, 1865. Capt. R. N. Reynolds,company commander. The certificate further states that Levi was 5 feet 5 inches tall, dark complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. At the time of discharge he was listed as 37 years old, having been born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
