Norris "Nord" Earl Evans of Prineville died Monday. He was 74.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Whispering Pines Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Prineville. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
Mr. Evans was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Prineville to Norman and Clara (Cross) Evans. He graduated from Crook County High School in 1947. He married Reita Baldridge on Nov. 15, 1952, in Prineville.
He worked for Pine Products and as a cat skinner for 14 years. Mr. Evans later worked as a road builder and superintendent in heavy equipment operations throughout the Northwest.
Mr. Evans was affiliated with the Elks Lodge No. 1814, Eagles Lodge No. 2555 and the Crook County Historical Society.
He liked hunting, fishing and going to yard sales. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to Mitchell and traveling to Arizona for the winter.
Survivors include his wife of Prineville; two sons, Lee of Park City, Utah and Lyle of Prineville; one daughter, Lynn Ludecker of Prineville; two brothers, Dennis of Prineville and Jerry of Boring; three sisters, Nadia Miller of Powell Butte, Diane Barnes of Sutherlin and Rose Holliday of Prineville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.
Memorial contributions may be made to Air Life of Oregon or The Bowman Museum.
