Judith C. (Sams) Lehman, 83, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, Tennessee. She was born in Parkersburg September 7, 1931, a daughter of the late Clyde William and Flossie Meryl Sinclair Sams.

Mrs. Lehman was a graduate of Parkersburg High School. She lived many years in the Virginia/D.C. area before returning to Parkersburg to be around her many family and friends. She was a devout Christian and on a regular basis read and studied her Bible. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church on 23rd street in Parkersburg and especially enjoyed her church family. Judith was a licensed practical nurse at the former St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg. She loved to paint and travel and along with her husband spent many winters in Florida and traveled to Europe and many other destinations.

Judith is survived by two daughters, Barbara Perkins and husband, Billy, of Middletown, Virginia and Anita Campbell and husband, Ronnie, of Newport, Tennessee; one son, Thomas Menchew, Jr. and wife, Gail, of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Helen Hedrick of Williamstown, W.Va., Martha Rinehart of Logan, Ohio and Patricia Blackman of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two step daughters, Dr. Sharon Lehman and Tamara Lehman Little, both of Atlanta, Georgia; three step-grandchildren, all of Atlanta, Georgia; many nieces and nephews; a host of family and friends; and her pet companion, Siamese cat "Prince".

In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by her husband and beloved companion, "the boy next door" Eric Lehman in 2011; two brothers, Edward Sams and Clyde William "Billy" Sams;and three sisters, Hazel Carico, Eileen Seaman and Barbara Trembly.

The Reverend Dr. Kurt Busiek, pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, will officiate funeral services at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Services will conclude with interment in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
