KAYSVILLE -- Carl Robert Schofield, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, 72, returned home to his Heavenly Father, Tuesday, July 23, 1996, from a heart attack.


He was born December 12, 1923 in Sandy, Utah, a son of Walter W. and Gertrude Summers Schofield. He married Pauline Burningham on October 29, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In high school he lettered in track (javelin), played All-State basketball, and loved serving on Davis High School class of '42 reunion committee. He attended BYU and played basketball there. He was a member of the Kaysville 13th Ward and served in the Sunday School presidency, was a Sunday School teacher, high priest group leader, Elders Quorum presidency. He served in the Ogden Temple. He loved coaching young mens teams and served in the scouting program. He enjoyed driving the handicapped children to school for 10 years. Carl retired from Hill Air Force Base. Carl was known for his loving kindness. He was a gentleman to everyone. He loved his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Kevin L. (Merlynn) Schofield, Kaysville, Utah; one daughter, Taryn S. Kay, Moab, Utah; two grandchildren, Brooke and Conner; also surviving are two brothers, Frank (Hazel) Schofield, Portland, Oregon; Len (Myrtle) Schofield, Layton, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ada Belle Rose and Fay Ritter; three brothers, Lester, Charles and Jack Schofield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 1996 at Kaysville 13th Ward, 875 East 200 No. with Bishop Harold Hansen, officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Saturday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
